It's time to create a future that represents who you really are at the core and this week's actions are but one step towards that.
I remember a time in my life ā many years, actually ā where I was running away from my truth. I did an about-face to my roots. Over a decade ago my boyfriend (a white guy) broke up with me. Although he broke the shit outta my heart, this relationship was the first time I felt truly loved, secure, and cared for by a love interest. So what did I do? I looked to date another white guy subconciously reasoning that this was the key to having a good relationship. Right? Wrong! Lol.
But the joke was on me because it left me, for several years, in a cultural wasteland always teetering the line, always submerging myself in crazy ass experiences surrounded by whiteness. It morphed into tokenism and I didn't even fucking realize it.
