Kleidi Jeen: [00:00:00] Hello, Sundae Creatives! Welcome to the show named just after you, where we're throwing outdated hustle culture in the trash and giving creative entrepreneurs the self care strategies they actually need to thrive. I'm Kleidi Jeen. Creative wellness strategist, your fellow creative entrepreneur, and your go to for making sure your business doesn't burn you out before you get to even enjoy your success.
I'm talking real deal self care, the kind where we're all about balancing those big, bold, creative dreams with the energy and well being to sustain them. Because the real flex is a thriving business and a thriving you. So, go ahead, grab your matcha, get comfy, and let's get into it.,
I'm gonna go ahead and say it. Stop trying to be more productive. Stop! As an anthropologist, I'm gonna go ahead and acknowledge the human [00:01:00] desire, no, the human need to improve, to do better, to make more efficient. , there's thousands of years of evidence there, okay? But, in the same vein, as a person also trained in mindfulness, where we as humans need a little help, is with recognizing that we are enough.
We have enough. We're doing enough. We are enough. And that kind of recognition can only come with practices like mindfulness that help us to stay present and to keep us embodied, like literally not only occupying our brains and our thoughts, but occupying our entire being. And you know, ironically, this is, actually how we do increase our productivity.
Okay. I'm going to put it out there. , I wouldn't practice mindfulness just with the sole purpose of increasing productivity, but that is a by product, ? And, , you can do this without burning out or suffering [00:02:00] from chronic stress and things like that. And being in survival mode. , as a creative, your productivity doesn't lie in following the rules and lists of other people.
It lies in deepening your connection with yourself, ? And getting internally curious, switching it around, changing that perspective, getting internally curious. It's about experimenting and trial and error and experimenting again and experiencing life in your own unique way. Because you are fueled by that process as a human, ?
That in and of itself is your productivity. It's experimenting and experiencing life. When you get into the cycle of producing as a result of external drivers, i. e., , Pantone said this year's color is, salmon pink, I don't know. Or, you know, people seem to like dresses instead of the pants I'm dying to create so I'll create dresses [00:03:00] instead. Or, I know my coaching provides real and lasting transformation, but I'll create an online course instead because that's what's supposed to be lucrative and scalable according to, , the latest trends in business.
So, , these are just examples when we think like this, instead of connecting to our raw creativity and expressing it, experimenting with it, experiencing it. That's when we develop difficulty in producing in the first place because it's not aligned with what we're trying to express and experience , from a soul place, , from a deep place inside of us.
So, , the next time you find yourself trying to be more productive, I want you to ask yourself this, do you need to be more productive in the first place? And if you truly do, like , you're never going to get that thing out there. If you don't pump up the jam a bit, if you truly do, then consider this.
Number one, are you trying to box [00:04:00] yourself and your creativity into something , that's not feeling authentic or aligned? I mean, your soul will scream the answer. If you ask it, , it will tell you, you will tell yourself. Okay. And once you get that answer, get your booty back on track with your authentic self expression. Okay. Another thing I would ask , if you got to be productive, , if you really got to get there, ask yourself this, are you operating on brain power alone or are your heart, soul and intuition in the game as well?
, see some neurologists now consider the mind to be , okay, the easiest way to explain this is every part of us. They consider the mind to be any part of us. That interacts with our environment and produces a reaction to it. The mind is this, , it's not the brain. It's all of those parts of us.
, it's a more a broader neurological concept that's coming out these days about what the mind actually is. [00:05:00] So are you operating from this mind or are you operating from your thoughts and cognition alone? Make sure you get all of those parts of you involved. , make sure you feel it in your belly, in your chest.
Like, if something's making your toes tingle, , lean into that. What's that about? , get curious. Make sure the input and output isn't just coming from your brain. Do a quick yoga session, for example, to get activated, to get embodied. In fact, I have a five session yoga package where I design the sequences specifically for creatives to connect to and express their creativity.
You know what? I'll include the link to that in the show notes so you can have it on hand when you're running on fumes and you're feeling like your actions and your creativity are out of sync. You can, , go to this link. , get the courses and let that, help you to reset and reconnect with yourself.
But anyway, the last thing, the third thing that you might ask yourself here, when [00:06:00] you're really leaning into productivity in and of itself, , I hope you might consider whether or not how you flow in your work, in your life is enough. , is your thing, the way you do your thing, is it enough?
And, , here's a little hint. It is. It is. Determine if you're chasing after more and better and bigger just for the sake of the chase or because you're questioning your worthiness maybe or, , sometimes that actually freezes our ability to take action on what we really want to happen the most.
So ask yourself the questions, get curious, know that there's no right answer, but do also trust in whatever answer bubbles up , from like the depths of you, like trust in your intuition. So TLDR, if you're worried about your productivity and exhausting your energy and time trying to take on [00:07:00] all the hacks and everything you see online, shift your perspective.
You are a deep feeling creative being when you're of line with your bigger intention and taking action towards expressing your genuine creative self. These motivate you and propel you towards the action that you're trying to take in the first place. You don't, you don't need a hack. You feel it in your soul as a creative being.
And also again, when you need a little boost to easily tap into your creative potential, when you need, I have a five short yoga session package for creatives called vibes in motion. And I'll go ahead and post that link, , in the show notes, just in case you're interested.
