Kleidi Jeen: [00:00:00] Coucou! Welcome to Sundae Creative where we're throwing outdated hustle culture in the trash and giving creative entrepreneurs the self care strategies they actually need to thrive. I'm Kleidi Jeen, creative wellness strategist and your fellow creative entrepreneur and your go to for making sure your business doesn't burn you out before you get to enjoy your success.
I'm talking real deal self care, the kind where we're all about balancing those big bold creative dreams with the energy and wellbeing to sustain them because the real flex is a thriving business and a thriving you. So go ahead, grab your matcha, get comfy and let's get into it.
What if when you hit creative block or a moment of exhaustion, you, let's say, paused to reconnect to yourself in a fun and nurturing way, instead of pushing through it. How would that change your daily life? How [00:01:00] would that change your relationship with your creative biz? How might that increase
the quality of and your pride in your creative work. Well, I'm asking you to ponder this, because pushing through , it's taking its toll. It's taking its toll. And do you want to know how? Well, let us see what some studies say, shall we? In PubMed Central. , it reads individuals with clinical burnout scored lowest in creativity tasks and cognitive tests, indicating that burnout significantly hampers creative abilities.
And it's nice that there's an article that says. It turns out that 57 percent of creatives reported an increased workload during the pandemic, contributing to higher stress and burnout levels. So that means we might still be operating at those [00:02:00] higher stress and burnout levels if we haven't addressed it in the last five years or so.
In YouGov Business, there's an article that says, Engaging in self care activities can boost productivity and focus, essential for creatives during demanding launch periods. This one, I'm going to repeat. Engaging in self care activities can boost productivity and focus, essential for creatives during demanding launch periods.
I mean, I don't, I don't know if I even need to say more. Like, , let me know what you think , about this. , these, Statistics are so enlightening to me. They're so interesting. , the last one , I'll, , quote comes from a medium article and it says that creative burnout leads to stress, anxiety, and a significant pause in projects, underscoring the need for effective self care strategies.
So, , all of this , to say that, , I'm not, [00:03:00] Coming out of nowhere with this really absolute need for self care planning in our business planning in general, self care strategies in our business strategizing. It has to be an intrinsic and core part of our strategies. And so I know you take your creativity seriously, like , it's so many things for you.
It's a lifeline. It's entertaining. It's how you express yourself, your growth and your wisdom that comes from what you experienced in life. It's how you transmute those experiences into something beneficial for the world. It's so many things. So for that tiny portion of your infinite creativity that you decided to employ to make a living, working harder and harder is not going to give what you think it's supposed to give.
To get it to align with, , where you are internally, to express externally , that growth, that expansion, that emerging part of you, you have to take care of [00:04:00] yourself. And deeply. You have to take care of yourself beyond whatever you can buy off the shelf in the self care section. Because that ain't it.
That's not what's going to address the burnout, , the chronic stress slash survival mode, the addiction to pushing through exhaustion, a face mask is not going to address that. And so in my workshop, the missing piece, we're going to talk about that specifically as it relates to your creative business.
