Everybody and their creative mama is jumping on the community bandwagon. Whether IRL or online, creatives are being told from all social media angles to build a community. Where are you on this? Have you build one? Do you want to?

(Lemme be real: I was tryna be cute with a food baby in ma belly.)

When my oldest was 1.5 yrs old, we went on our 1st long term trip back home to Louisiana. It was our 2nd time making the trip from Paris and bay-bee, he won the award as most chill traveler—still does.

We visited eeeeverybody, and everybody came to visit us. We were the birthday! (see I’m trying on the new lingo…check ya Threads lol)

Anywho, we went over to my childhood best friend’s mom’s house. She’s like a second mother to me and happens to be the best soul food chef on the planet! 

I’m talking candied yams, cornbread, collard greens, fried chicken, turkey necks, red beans and rice, macaroni & cheese, peach cobbler and more! She laid it out, honey! And we tore it up!

Before leaving, we had to document the moment with some pics in her newly renovated kitchen. She and I took a few pics together and when I looked at the pics, I said: “hmmm, I don’t like these…. Let’s try it again.”

And you know what she said???
